How is life in Ghana?

«Here in Ghana, you have shown us a side of Africa that is often overlooked by the world that only sees tragedy and the need charity. The people of Ghana have worked hard to build a democracy on solid foundations, with repeated peaceful successions of power.».

This was said by the president of the United States of America, Barack Obama Barack Obama on 11 July 2009.

Ghana was the first country in sub-Saharan Africa to gain independence (8 March 1957). It has been a stable democracy since 1992 (LINK TO SITUATIONS POLICY GHANA). In the last 24 years, government power has been alternated between the National Democratic Congress, the center-left party, and the New Patriotic Party, which values are based on the center-right.

This peaceful and democratic succession of power allows Ghana to maintain a high standard of living. In addition to political stability, there are other factors that contribute to making Ghana one of the most stable countries in which to live.

Mild climate and beautiful beaches improve the quality of life in Ghana

First of all there is social unity: the struggle for power, unlike in other African countries such as Sierra Leone, Liberia and Libya, have not resulted in fratricidal (civil) clashes. In Ghana more than one hundred ethnic groups co-exist peacefully.

Personal safety is another of the factors that makes Ghana a peaceful country to live in: the crime rate is one of the lowest of the entire African continent and the absence of terrorism, combined with the proverbial good nature of the Ghanaian people, help promote a peaceful dwelling.

Steady economic growth is another factor that may influence the choice to live in Ghana, from an economic point of view Ghana is one of the strongest African countries because of the abundance of raw materials (gold, minerals, oil) and its large investment opportunities ( industry, services, tourism).

The quality of life in Ghana is further heightened by the mild climate and the presence of 450 km of white sandy beaches. Along the coast, there are several places declared World Heritage and Tourism sector that offer excellent investment opportunities.
